A Message from José Andrés
Dear Friends & Family:
The increasing risk of the COVID-19 coronavirus has created an unprecedented global emergency and every one of us has had to adapt to stop its spread. At Beefsteak, that means changing how we serve you and our community. To help encourage social distancing and protect the health of our guests and team members, we have made the following changes to our restaurants:
- We will exclusively serve guests through pick-up and delivery at our George Washington University and Dupont Circle locations, open daily from 11 AM to 5 PM. Our Montgomery Mall location is temporarily closed.
- To place a pick-up order, download the Beefsteak app or visit our website. You will not be able to order onsite or dine inside.
- You can order Beefsteak through our delivery partners, all of which offer contactless delivery so that if you do order online, our food arrives safely to you.
- We may need to reduce operating hours further, as well as make updates to our menu. Please regularly check our website for the latest information.
As for our other ThinkFoodGroup restaurants in the DC area, we are closing those today, March 15, as well and will repurpose them as “community kitchens” with affordable plates of the day available for takeout purchase. We feel these community kitchens can help during this challenging time, and those who cannot afford to pay we will welcome as well.
The community kitchens will operate out of the restaurants’ side doors with a limited number of volunteers from 12 – 5 pm daily beginning Tuesday, March 17, offering only takeout service. For more information on that, you can find it here.
All restaurant employees at all of our restaurants will be provided with paid leave and current health benefits for at least the first two weeks.
We will continue to keep you posted as we evolve our offerings to meet the needs of our community as well as to take best care of our employees.
Keep safe and we hope to see you soon.
José Andrés and The Beefsteak Team
